Many heads are better than one
Here are some specific translation problems looking for solutions.

If you are having trouble reading an old document (or part of a document), please send us the pertinent information to post here. There are many people out there who may be willing to help you or at least try. Send to editor@Croatia-in-English.com.

Describe your problem in one of these ways:

1. with words and an image** -- as in Problem 4, below.
2. in words only -- as in Problem 3, below.
3. ask for help, only, by describing your problem generally. No exact description of the problem. The "helper" responds to you directly. This is for those who want anonymity. An example is Problem 2, below.

When describing in words, include as much identifying information as possible such as the year of the document, the language, the source, etc.

**When e-mailing an image:
It should be jpg or gif format and as small as possible. Don't e-mail us anything over about 80K without asking first. There are many programs which can be used for making small image files -- some are available directly on the Web.

(Problem in red is just an example. The others are real.)

Problem 1: Old document from Dubrovnik Archives dated 1563 written in Italian. Around 90 words. JPG, 55K. Tom.
---------------
Problem 2: Need help with figuring out church records found in LDS microfilm. I can mail you photocopies with problem words marked. Janet: JSmith@example.com. [Note: this is a fake problem just to show as an example.]
---------------
Problem 3: In one church record it says "a gradisca sondamado". What does this mean? Please answer here. Thank you. Dennis J.

----------
Problem 4: Statement in a Stanje Dus"a -- under "comments". Can't understand what it says. Something to do with Virginia and Nevada. Please help. Ray H. Answer here.
